Client & Volunteer Stories

A Gracious Being

A touching story of C. as told by her volunteer and friend.  As you read the story you will come to know an independent and  friendly widowed woman living her entire life according to her terms and beliefs, always with a focus on others. Perhaps best summed up in the title "C. Gracious Being, Gentle Passing of a Peaceful Soul".  Click here for this tender account of a Gracious Being.  This story also appears in “Stories of Hospice”, a compilation publication available from the Hospice Association of Ontario and you can learn more by visiting their web site - see Links.

One Family's Journey Together

This husband and wife with a one-year old daughter faced the husband's diagnosis of brain cancer and all of the associated challenges and trauma with courage and acceptance of each other's approach.  Their daughter grew up in this unusual environment and, with the help of family, friends and Hospice Volunteers that soon became fast friends, found that she added her strength to that of her mother and her father celebrating the time that they had together as a family.  Click here for this amazing story.
